Learn about your options from a professional estate planner at the Cottage Estate Planning Seminar.  Join Wilmot George from the Tax and Estate Planning Group at MacKenzie Financial as he presents ‘Tips and Traps’ in preparing for cottage succession.  The focus of the presentation is how to identify the key issues ‘Tips and Traps’ for yourparticular family in dealing with the succession of your cottage.

The presentation will allow you to engage your professional advisors effectively and therefore efficiently. There is no sales pitch.  We will discuss decision-making tips and traps for trusts and sharing agreements; how to avoid family armageddon; use of trusts: 21 year rule; and trusts in a blended family.  You will learn how to estimate the actual tax liability of your cottage; avoid double tax on gifted cottage; use the Principal Residence Exemption; and avoiding the joint tenancy snafu.

Wilmot has more than 13 years’ experience in Tax and Estate Planning and for the last 7years has been Director of Tax and Estate Planning at Mackenzie Financial, a large, well-known investment management firm.
