Municipal Elections 2018

Advance polls open Friday, October 12th at 10 a.m.  and remain open through to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 22nd, 2018 (Voting Day).

New this year, internet and telephone voting are your only two voting options.

To be able to vote, you will need 3 pieces of information: your voter ID and your PIN (both provided in your voter information letter) and your date of birth which has to have been registered with the Township

We have been informed by the township that 700 of 16,000 TML voters (4%) do not have their birth dates on file and are ineligible to vote until that issue is rectified. To ensure your birth date has been registered, the Township has offered the following helpful information taken directly from their website.

To confirm your date of birth, please check the Voter Registration Portal :

https://www.muskokalakes.ca/content/voter-registration

Complete the required fields on the portal, including your date of birth, and if correct your information will be confirmed.  It is not necessary to contact the Voter Help Line if the information is correct in the portal. If you require any assistance, you can call the municipal office at 705-765-3156 ext. 211 or email vote@muskokalakes.ca.

Spring Thaw

Well almost.

Just over a week ago the ice was a about 18″ thick however this week it is melting around the shore line.   Don’t kid yourself with how it looks… ..you will probably (will)  drown if you ventured out.

We didn’t have the usual high water in the fall..however the town cleaned out the dams under Falkenburg Road and that got some water in for our flush in the fall..   Today…we haven’t reached our average high spring level but it seems to be coming up, fast.   Brandy Lake is a head water lake so our level is not controlled the same way as the big lakes in Muskoka.

We had plenty of snowmobiles, deer, skiers, snowshoeing and walking on the lake this winter

We won’t have full newsletter this spring.  So…

Here is a report from our president:

Donations…Brandy Lake Social in Muskoka

To BLA  Members:
Our 13th Annual Social is fast approaching and I hope you have marked July 25th on your calendars.
This year we are having live and silent auctions with the proceeds going to “Reach for the Rainbow”.  This charity is committed to providing an environment where children with disabilities are able to go to camp, including camps in Muskoka, in a safe environment with caring individual counsellors.
We have some wonderful silent auction items but if you have any new items you would like to donate they would certainly be appreciated.  If you have any items please give me a call and I will make arrangements to pick them up (705) 764-8037.
The Social is on Saturday, July 25th from 2 – 5 pm.  Our gracious hosts this year are Danuta and Bruce Erskine, you may remember Bruce as a president of the BLA a few years ago.  The
Erskine’s cottage is at 1033 Scout Trail. Scout Trail is off Brackenrig Road and there will be balloons at the end of the road and at the cottage.  Balloons will also mark a place to dock your boat.
The Social is a wonderful time to meet your Brandy Lake neighbours, don’t forget to bring your weekend guests.  We would like to make this the best social ever and also to raise money for this very worthwhile charity.
Your Executive are looking forward to meeting you all on July 25th.
Warmest regards,
Gail Hammond

Brandy Lake Annual Social for Saturday, July 28th

Brandy Lake Association

Port Carling, ON.  P0B 1J0

June 12, 2012

To:  Brandy Lake Association Members

Greetings to Everyone:

Our summer has certainly started early this year with a wonderful Victoria Holiday Weekend.  I know our granddaughters were in the lake every day of the weekend enjoying swimming, tubing and just having a wonderful time.

We are planning our Brandy Lake Annual Social for Saturday, July 28th at the cottage of Danuta and Bruce Erskine.  I am sure if you attended last year you will remember what a wonderful event it was.  Danuta and Bruce are wonderful hosts and have again offered their beautiful cottage for our annual event.  This year we are planning to have a Silent Auction with the proceeds going to “Reach for the Rainbow” a wonderful charity serving children and young adults with developmental and physical disabilities from across Ontario.  The Executive Director of “Reach for the Rainbow” is Donna Trella a long time cottager on Brandy Lake.  If you wish more information please check their website at info@reachfortherainbow.ca                             .

We are looking for prizes for the Silent Auction.  If you have any service or gifts you are willing to donate, please contact me at 705 764-8037 or 647 229-6411.  We hope to make this one of the BLA’s best socials.  Information about the location and times will be sent out by email with the AGM material.

I hope you can join us and please let me know if you are able to donate an item.

Sincerely yours,

J. Gail Hammond

President, Brandy Lake Association
