Had a call from Gerodie this morning about a barge on the lake. I did go for a look but it seems to be gone.
If anyone has information on its …location…job…etc..can you email using the form below. This email communication is strictly private.
Gerodie is highly active in Muskoka….and runs a pretty good ski school and ski shows as well.
3 BEER CANS SCREWED TO A BOARD AND SET AFLOAT IN THE LAKE ..
So…this floated up on my shore…but this type of stuff happening over a wide range of venues anymore…
Simply no common sense thinking!!
OK….weekend skier maybe would see it…..but some of us cut the wake at a high rate of speed…not looking for killer items in water..
What about kids on tubes ..driver doing a good job for fun…kids have no chance to avoid…a potential death blow
Annual regatta is being hosted in Launch Bay August 17
The event is well run..something for everyone….many team events. Bring guests and family.. ..the focus is on kids.
The event is at Jons cottage to the right of the boat launch. We will update information as it comes in…
ALSO…Jon has informed us the boat launch dock is in.
The Lake…Is our common, front yard element..
People are still bathing and washing boats in lakes ..,adding nutrients…under the PERCEIVED idea that Bio Degradable Soap is ok .
The nutrients that we add to the lakes- especially phosphorous- are a major water quality problem. These extra nutrients cause excessive plant growth and the algae build-up you see on your boat’s hull and along shorelines. If we don’t cut down on nutrient loading, we’ll have cloudy water, unpleasant tastes and odours, and a lot fewer fish. A very good description by MLA
Bio Degradable Soap best described by the link here …Muskoka Watershed.
This is going to be…(LONG) .with tons of good info..so we will post on a PAGE and categorize it. I am am not an expert….by any means…but outside… my job was fluid control for 30 years and as far as Brandy Lake goes…….I have been involved and water testing with BLA since its beginning including a 3 year intense study we did with the government about 13 ish years ago… …..up until I abruptly quit the BLA recently.
The immediate question for many..should I have a drinking well water, process lake water or draw in raw and buy water?
Brandy Lake has 2.6 mg/l of tannin and this is the primary fight on the decision to process our own water. So 1st ….here is our lake makeup. This is my test from 2014 and I have 2nd from 1995. I need to do some math to compare as the 1995 version is in PPM format
So..2014 I will further explain each line later
Aesthetic Objective Test Results
- Total Hardness less than 7 gpg 5 gpg

- Manganese ” 0.05 mg/l 0.1 mg/l
- pH 7.0 to 8.5 7.0
- Tannins less than 0.1 mg/l 2.6 mg/l
