Brandy Lake Watershed

Below is the Brandy Lake watershed.   Part of the lake study (more to come) 2002 and 2003 Initiated by Jane Evans who started the BLA.

Jim Cormack did bi-weekly test from May to November for two years.

“Quote” The calculations suggest that the internal load represents
approximately 35% of the annual load to Brandy Lake, with the watershed (47%) and
atmosphere (2%) contributing nearly half of the total load. The load from shoreline
development is estimated at 16% of the total annual load In 2003

Subsequent to this study..there are about eight (8) beaver dams in inlet stream 1.  Jim Cormack and myself paddled from Falkenburg Road pipes to the Lake several years ago to count

Base Line…Lake Water

The Lake…Is our common,  front yard element..

People are still bathing and washing boats in lakes ..,adding nutrients…under the PERCEIVED idea that Bio Degradable Soap is ok .

NOT

The nutrients that we add to the lakes- especially phosphorous- are a major water quality problem. These extra nutrients cause excessive plant growth and the algae build-up you see on your boat’s hull and along shorelines. If we don’t cut down on nutrient loading, we’ll have cloudy water, unpleasant tastes and odours, and a lot fewer fish.   A very  good description by MLA

Bio Degradable Soap best described by the link here …Muskoka Watershed.

Well, Lake Processed Water and More

This is going to be…(LONG) .with tons of good info..so we will post on a PAGE and categorize it.   I am am not an expert….by any means…but outside… my job was fluid control for 30 years and as far as Brandy Lake goes…….I have been involved and water testing with BLA since its beginning  including a 3  year intense study we did with the government about 13 ish years ago… …..up until I abruptly quit the BLA recently.

The immediate question for many..should I have a drinking well water, process lake water or draw in raw and buy water?

Brandy Lake has 2.6 mg/l of tannin and this is the primary fight on the decision to process our own water.  So 1st ….here is our lake makeup.  This is my test from 2014 and  I have 2nd from 1995.  I need to do some math to compare  as the 1995 version is in PPM format

So..2014  I will further explain each line later
